For the last two years, I’ve been struggling with some hip and and knee issues and come to believe that it is from an occupational hazard of all software developers: prolonged sitting.
I’ve looked at GeekDesk, but my finances are tight right now. I’ve also used boxes and such and it worked, but the inconvenience didn’t help the situation once.
Then I found ErgoDesktop and after a while, I ordered one.
Today, my new ErgoDesktop MyMac Kangaroo adjustable height desk unit arrived.
Recently I switched the forums to use Vanilla Forums, in the hope that the spam problem would be solved. That hasn’t happened. If anything, spam increased. So, because of the spam and because the forums have little traffic, I have removed the forums for the web site. As usual if you have comments or support requests, you can continue to email support@infinitenil.com. We are also on twitter as @infinitenil.
I’ve finally had it with punBB and how much spam I get in my forums. So, infinitenil.com now has new forum software. I’m now using Vanilla forums and they are hosting it.
I am brainstorming some new app ideas here at infiniteNIL and I’m wondering how much interest there would be in an app that syncs 37signals’ Basecamp (or Backpack, Highrise) with Things from Cultured Code.
Please comment and let me know what you think.
If you have purchased any of our products, I ask that you please go to the iTunes store and add your review or ranking. This will help promote them and hopefully increase their sales and ratings, allowing us to devote more time to improving them and to create new products.
Thank you for your support.
Here is an excellent article on why software companies charge for software and why it’s beneficial to everybody.
Another good article on pricing by Marco Arment, the developer of Instapaper. infiniteNIL is definitely in App Store B.
If you want unique and great software to be available you need to support independent software developers and buy their products.

This weekend I remembered some posts I had read about turning your Macbook into an eBook reader. Here they are:
The reason I was thinking of them is because I’m looking forward to getting an iPad and I’m investigating how it would look and feel by looking at my notebook of similar size and doing whatever I can to see what this device might be like.
Well, let me tell you, trying the techniques in the links above really brought it home for me. The iPad is like no other device you have used. Sure it’s like an iPhone, but the bigger screen makes it a completely different device. Turn your Macbook sideways so your screen is in your lap and the keyboard is off to your right and imagine the keyboard is not there. The screen is just begging to be touched and interacted with like a real physical thing. Using a keyboard and mouse is an indirect method of interaction. It’s like telling someone else to grab an object and do something with it. Using a large touch screen is a direct experience. You get the hold the ball in your own hands.
I’m very excited about writing software for the iPad and can’t wait to get my hands on one. An iPad version of Numerology will be in the store from day 1 and I’m investigating other ideas.
